Annika & John’s Georgian Townhouse Wedding | Norwich

It all started to calmly. Annika and her bridesmaids quietly getting ready in the bridal suite, John supping a “warm-up” drink at the bar downstairs. Such a lovely couple from another side of the world.  A Swedish girl and a British lad, living in Nepal. Coming home to where it all began for the day of their lives.
It was a day when legends were made, dance legends that is…and probably some drinking legends too! But it was non-stop laughs and warmth, and I loved every minute. I hope you do too!

Hayley – Holkham Beach – Equine Photography

Following hot on the hooves (see what I did there?) of the shoot with Paula, her friend and their fine fillies, I was contacted by Hayley.  Seems that she and her buddies, Hannah, Laura and Jasmine, wanted to come up from Bedford and take their horses for a good old race along the beach.  Not too far from Holme, where the previous shoot was carried out (see all of that session just here >>> Holme Equine Shoot), Hayley and the girls had chosen Holkham.  Now this is a truly magical place, where the beach seems to go on forever.  Miles and miles and miles of sand, beautiful dunes and pine woodland nearby, utter bliss for a day out with the family, or a large four-legged friend!

It’s a heck of a walk out to the surf, but Hannah was kind enough to let me ride on her fine steed, he goes by the name of Cruise.  A little bumpy, but sure better than walking with all my kit for the best part of half a mile.  We soon found a great starting spot, a canter through a massive warm pool of sea water further up the beach.  With these sessions I always try to make sure everyone has a fair crack at galloping along at full throttle, if they want, or cantering through the water’s edge.  It gives a whole different feel to the session and the horses love it too.  The quick canter through this rather large puddle got the horses in the mood and got all the girls rather soaked.  And that wasn’t the end of the soaking….there was surely more to come!

Hayley and the girls were well up for some serious galloping along the beach, in fact Laura’s horse was turbo powered I’m sure.  She made short work of this massive beach run, absolutely amazing to watch.  These horses are so graceful and powerful that it seems right to show the different sides to their personality, some shots of them gently trotting through some warm pools of water left over from the higher tide, some galloping action and, of course, some backlit shots of these creatures with the summer sun behind them.  The horses, and the girls, were pretty drenched by the end of the session, but I’m pretty sure the girls enjoyed their time in Holkham and in Norfolk overall.

So here’s a small sample of the session, I hope you enjoy them.

I can’t wait to shoot another one of these sessions.  So if you’re thinking about having one, don’t……just book it, you will have the best time ever!

Adele & Simon’s Wedding and Blessing – Norwich

Well, you’ve seen the sneak peek and now it’s time for the real deal.  A gorgeous Wedding in central Norwich, Adele and Simon had chosen to tie the knot at the Norwich registry office, Churchman House.  This has the most beautiful features and massive windows that lets light flood into the ceremony room.  After the ceremony we had a few shots in the gardens at the rear of the building before wandering down to Farmer Browns over at Tombland, where they had their reception lunch.

Now this is probably where a lot of wedding days end, but not this one.  This is a two-parter and so the very next day I was invited over to Gressenhall, where Adele’s parents live, to photograph their marriage being blessed in the garden of her parents’ barn.  It just so happens that Adele’s father is a man of the cloth and so performed a blessing for his daughter and new son-in-law.  A truly magical moment and one that, as a dad, would feel very special too.

Family and close friends were in attendance and there was such a lovely summer vibe to the event as guests took their seats on hay bales, while others sat inside the marquee on this beautiful summer’s day.  When it was time for the blessing Adele & Simon walked through the stunning gardens with massive beaming smiles, towards the marquee where her father was waiting to conduct the blessing.  It was very clear that it was a tender and emotional moment for Adele & Simon, having your father conduct your blessing must be up there as one of the THE most special and memorable things to happen to you.  Having concluded the ceremony there was plenty of applause from a very delighted congregation.  The rest of the day was spent, as you would expect, enjoying the company of great friends and close family, drinking to a great day and enjoying the sun. Bliss!

Winterburgh Family Lifestyle Photography

Well, we had hoped for sunny day, but we settled for a big family with a sunny disposition!  Yes, although it was a bit misty everyone was up for a walk through the woods at Haveringland Hall.

Helen had booked me to capture the family’s time together with her sister’s family and her Mum and Dad.  We were just a bit too early for some spring colour, but the kids made sure there was plenty of  fun, with leaf fights, hide and seek and playing in the wendy house at the back of the hall.  So many of these sessions have a fun element to them as it’s generally not very often that large families get together like this, time to just be together doing nothing but….. being together!  All too often there “things to do”.  So these are great sessions where the grown ups can be just as far out as the kids, jumping around in the woods or climbing trees, it doesn’t matter as long as you’re having fun.

Coming together from all parts of the country means long journeys for all and so a place like this where everything you need to relax is right there at your fingertips is an added bonus.  Haveringland Hall is a very relaxing place and no too far away from the nearby market town of Aylsham with a whole host of shops and amenities, of course as well as Blickling Hall just west of Aylsham, a Jacobean jewel that is definitely worth a visit.

I hope you enjoy a little peek into the weekend of the Winterburghs, it was great to photograph such a fun loving family, maybe next time it will be you and your family?

Thanks for reading 🙂

Lifestyle Shoot, Wells Beach

To celebrate his 40th birthday, Phil’s wife, Liz, had secretly arranged a family shoot over at Wells Beach, Norfolk.  Phil was over the moon, and so were their two daughters.  Unfortunately, their little one had been up most of the night with a cold. Boo! But we pressed on, walking through the lovely pine woods that borders the beach, sure enough, as he started to play hide and seek with his sisters the little buddy cheered up.

We headed over to the beach huts for some nutty jumping action, followed by some dune-jumping, and finally heading back towards the beach huts for a quick game of frisby.  All in all, not a bad day was had.  Their gorgeous girls were full of giggles and there youngest one had great fun building sand castles on his sisters head!

Wells is a fantastic place for a get together, even better if you have someone with a camera come along to capture the moments with you.  Enjoy!
