Hayley – Holkham Beach – Equine Photography

Following hot on the hooves (see what I did there?) of the shoot with Paula, her friend and their fine fillies, I was contacted by Hayley.  Seems that she and her buddies, Hannah, Laura and Jasmine, wanted to come up from Bedford and take their horses for a good old race along the beach.  Not too far from Holme, where the previous shoot was carried out (see all of that session just here >>> Holme Equine Shoot), Hayley and the girls had chosen Holkham.  Now this is a truly magical place, where the beach seems to go on forever.  Miles and miles and miles of sand, beautiful dunes and pine woodland nearby, utter bliss for a day out with the family, or a large four-legged friend!

It’s a heck of a walk out to the surf, but Hannah was kind enough to let me ride on her fine steed, he goes by the name of Cruise.  A little bumpy, but sure better than walking with all my kit for the best part of half a mile.  We soon found a great starting spot, a canter through a massive warm pool of sea water further up the beach.  With these sessions I always try to make sure everyone has a fair crack at galloping along at full throttle, if they want, or cantering through the water’s edge.  It gives a whole different feel to the session and the horses love it too.  The quick canter through this rather large puddle got the horses in the mood and got all the girls rather soaked.  And that wasn’t the end of the soaking….there was surely more to come!

Hayley and the girls were well up for some serious galloping along the beach, in fact Laura’s horse was turbo powered I’m sure.  She made short work of this massive beach run, absolutely amazing to watch.  These horses are so graceful and powerful that it seems right to show the different sides to their personality, some shots of them gently trotting through some warm pools of water left over from the higher tide, some galloping action and, of course, some backlit shots of these creatures with the summer sun behind them.  The horses, and the girls, were pretty drenched by the end of the session, but I’m pretty sure the girls enjoyed their time in Holkham and in Norfolk overall.

So here’s a small sample of the session, I hope you enjoy them.

I can’t wait to shoot another one of these sessions.  So if you’re thinking about having one, don’t……just book it, you will have the best time ever!

Winterburgh Family Lifestyle Photography

Well, we had hoped for sunny day, but we settled for a big family with a sunny disposition!  Yes, although it was a bit misty everyone was up for a walk through the woods at Haveringland Hall.

Helen had booked me to capture the family’s time together with her sister’s family and her Mum and Dad.  We were just a bit too early for some spring colour, but the kids made sure there was plenty of  fun, with leaf fights, hide and seek and playing in the wendy house at the back of the hall.  So many of these sessions have a fun element to them as it’s generally not very often that large families get together like this, time to just be together doing nothing but….. being together!  All too often there “things to do”.  So these are great sessions where the grown ups can be just as far out as the kids, jumping around in the woods or climbing trees, it doesn’t matter as long as you’re having fun.

Coming together from all parts of the country means long journeys for all and so a place like this where everything you need to relax is right there at your fingertips is an added bonus.  Haveringland Hall is a very relaxing place and no too far away from the nearby market town of Aylsham with a whole host of shops and amenities, of course as well as Blickling Hall just west of Aylsham, a Jacobean jewel that is definitely worth a visit.

I hope you enjoy a little peek into the weekend of the Winterburghs, it was great to photograph such a fun loving family, maybe next time it will be you and your family?

Thanks for reading 🙂

Clarke Family Lifestyle Shoot, Wells Beach | Norfolk Lifestyle Photography

Lifestyle Shoot, Wells Beach

To celebrate his 40th birthday, Phil’s wife, Liz, had secretly arranged a family shoot over at Wells Beach, Norfolk.  Phil was over the moon, and so were their two daughters.  Unfortunately, their little one had been up most of the night with a cold. Boo! But we pressed on, walking through the lovely pine woods that borders the beach, sure enough, as he started to play hide and seek with his sisters the little buddy cheered up.

We headed over to the beach huts for some nutty jumping action, followed by some dune-jumping, and finally heading back towards the beach huts for a quick game of frisby.  All in all, not a bad day was had.  Their gorgeous girls were full of giggles and there youngest one had great fun building sand castles on his sisters head!

Wells is a fantastic place for a get together, even better if you have someone with a camera come along to capture the moments with you.  Enjoy!

Glamping in North Norfolk | The Grove, Cromer | Norfolk Wedding Photographer

Norfolk Photographer

Glamping comes to Cromer

The Grove, Cromer, has indeed gone through something of a metamorphosis since Richard took over control.  He’s the third generation to preside over The Grove, which has historically been known as a favourite holiday destination due to its close proximity to the beach, cliffside walks and all the other elements Cromer has to offer, and he’s now putting his stamp on the facilities of this amazing venue by adding Glamping.

Charlie Hodson, Executive Chef, has been instrumental in bringing about the move to Glamping.  His background in hospitality is well known as he has in fact worked alongside Gordon Ramsay, launched restaurants in Selfridges and Harvey Nichols as well cooking for royalty.  More recently Charlie has brought a great deal of recognition to The Grove by achieving 2 AA Rosettes with his dedicated team, even though he only joined The Grove 7 months ago!

It’s clear Charlie has unstoppable drive and ambition, bringing Glamping to Cromer is an inspired move and adds to what is already an amazing setting, with beautiful accommodation in the main building as well as six separate cottages, a swimming pool and an award winning restaurant!  However, by adding Glamping to their facilities it has added a whole new dimension to the his venue and Cromer itself.  It’s clear Charlie, Richard and the team have worked hard to pull this together, teaming up with Magical Camping to provide this new facility.  Today’s event was a taster, showing us the potential of what they will have to offer and also showcasing some of Norfolk’s finest suppliers in the process.

Glamping has been adopted further west along the coast but it has never surfaced anywhere this far east, until now.  While Magical Camping are relatively new to Tipis they are no stranger to glamping in general, they already have 30 bell tents they’ve been hiring out for the past 3 years.  It was therefore inevitable that they would lay on an amazing facility to house today’s welcome event.  Set design was carried out by Chantal Beck, of Angels by the Sea who did an amazing job, transforming it with a variety of themes ranging from Decadent to Vintage.  I’m lucky enough to be working Chantal in a few weeks time on a bridal shoot….details to follow.

As a Cromer resident, and living literally around the corner from The Grove, I’m really pleased for Richard and look forward to visiting again very soon.

For more information on today’s suppliers have a little look below:

Angels By The Sea

Chantal runs Angels By The Sea, she specialises in providing a stylish setting for your event, in fact Weddings for a large part of her business, although she’s more than able to tackle any event, as can be seen above with her meticulous attention to styling and detail.

Chantal has a very clear vision on how Angels By The Sea can add to your next, here’s her take on what drives her:

“I set up the business with a view to helping people create memorable magical events which they could not only be proud of but that they could really enjoy, embrace and treasure forever. Mostly, Angels By the Sea’s clients are brides, looking for hidden treasures to hire and wanting bespoke styling for their big day.

I LOVE weddings and to be able to help in this way gives me such a buzz….I am a little addicted to styling weddings if I am honest! I tailor to needs but I have an eye for all things that have the following themes: rustic, country chic, boho, relaxed, French inspired.  I love fabric, lace being my favourite and I like to include it wherever I can in a wedding! I have an Aladdin’s cave of treasures for brides or event planners to hire, from little pieces to big pieces of furniture. I also assist professional photographers on styled shoots and find this really exciting.  I am not sure what came first, the organisational skills or the eye for detail. Either way, I am thrilled to do what I do and my company is my passion. If you contact me to help with your event, shoot, wedding, I promise to deliver nothing short of perfection!

Argent & Sable

Argent & Sable provided the signage and furniture at today’s event.  They are a husband and wife run business which draws on the couples wealth of expertise and experience in interior design, house renovation and restoration, set design and their respective degrees in the Arts.

Justin Neale is the creative director, maker, creator and artist. He is a dynamic and creative person with a tenacious and proactive personality. Justin has the ability to imagine great creative concepts and ideas and through his extensive skill base can create and turn these ideas into a reality.

Danielle Neale is the other creative director. Danielle is a creative and highly motivated designer in her own right, with a first class honours degree in Textile Design at Norwich University of the Arts. Her extensive knowledge of the interiors industry and wealth of experience leaves her well equipped to manage Argent and Sable.

They make and create all the signs themselves in their studio in Norfolk, where they hand- paint, distress and create the signs down to the very last detail. They have chosen to use reclaimed wood for their signs and use beautiful gold flex in order to complete the aesthetic of the sign for when it is lit up in your home, hotel, business or event.

They use traditional paints that have a nostalgic chalky quality and also use a natural beeswax to seal the paint. The frames are an eclectic mix of antique/old ornate and painted and distressed, each one creates the perfect surround for these individual and highly sought after unique pieces of art. Each item is signed by the artists.

And at night….it really was magical.  Glamping under the stars….now THAT is the way to go!

It was a beautifully clear night, the fire was gently flickering, toasted marshmallows at hand and huge sofas to lounge in.  Outstanding!
