St Giles House Wedding
Vicky & Chris chose one of my favourite venues to get married. St Giles House Hotel is a building dripping with style, from the chequered flooring to the pillars dominating the entrance and lobby to the wooden staircases, oh and the enormous chandeliers…I could go on. This amazing sanctuary is right in the middle of Norwich, such a vibrant city and it was great to be able to shoot a wedding amongst the madding crowds. Our preparation today started in one of the suites, with Vicky being assisted with her dress by her future sister-in-law, with Mum watching on. Nerves would kick in now and again as Vicky went a little quiet and looked a bit pensive, but overall she was full of excitement and smiles.
I left Vicky to finish off her final preparations while I shot downstairs to meet up with Chris and his best man. I could see Chris was wearing the nerves just a tad more than Vicky, but with his trusty best man by his side the miles came through. In fact when I asked them to hold the rings to the camera it was his best man that had the jitters, I should have offered to get a swift whisky form the bar to calm his nerves, but I thought better as who knows where we would have ended up!
Time was a bit tight at this point so we assembled upstairs for the ceremony, Vicky was to be walked down the aisle by her mum, a really emotional moment. This massive smile crept right across Chris’ face as Vicky arrived at the top of the aisle. It was a lovely service. Prior to the evening reception everyone descended to the bar area to catch up with the newly wed couple and have a few drinks to their happiness. Before festivities got underway completely, we headed into the city for some causal, as you do, shots of you and your bride walking around this fine city. It was great to have a few moments with Vicky and Chris as they enjoyed their first few minutes as a married couple. They cut quite a dash on the streets of Norwich, as Chris looked all the part and his amazing new wife on his arm in a gorgeous dress and killer heels. Awesome!
